The multitude of devices being developed today need to be prototyped and tested before they can be mass produced and sold commercially.
The Arduino is an open source platform for electronic prototyping. It consists of:
- A microcontroller, which is basically a programmable circuit board.
- An Integrated Development Environment (IDE), software that can be run on a computer for use in programming the microcontroller.
Other electronic prototyping platforms need hardware to program their microcontrollers. However, Arduino's microcontroller code can be loaded directly through USB cable making it a very versatile and convenient prototyping platform.
Onix works on robotics on many platforms as they become available. The combined experience of working on multiple platforms provides a broad knowledge base when prototyping and testing various skills.
